Tough run... one of my first warm weather runs and the entire thing was in direct sunlight. Battled stomach cramps the entire time. Hope I can get used to this warmer weather quickly! |

had to cut the run short due to major stomach pain. Went to doc... not appendicitis thank goodness. Still have the 1/2 marathon this weekend... hoping I can make it :/

Ran the first 7 at a 7:32 pace Fell a little behind after that. Mile 10 the stomach pain came back. Ran/walked through it to the finish. Going back to the doc on Monday to see what's up. Disappointed I had to walk at all, but I met the original goal I set for the race - 8:00 AP. For my first race in 4 months, not a bad showing. Definitely need to race more though if I want to Boston qualify. I don't have that mental toughness yet to keep pace through those hard miles. BTW tried my first "keep running while taking water"... didn't go so well... lol. Managed to spill the water all over myself. Decided it was better to walk briskly through the water stations after that lol Side note, record high in the Lou of 90 degrees! Not a great day for a race... that's for sure. Read in the news that they turned marathoners at mile 9 after 2 hours and 15 minutes.

| leg still bugging me. I took it easy today (after 2 days of rest!!!!) and ran super slow and controlled, didn't attack the hills, small strides down hills, etc. Felt tender but not too bad until right at the end... took a bad step and pain shot up that leg and it hurt real bad to bend it. Luckily I could see my house from where it occurred and was able to just go on in. Iced when I got home and it is feeling better, just stiff. Knee isn't really swollen though, which is good. I know it isn't anything too serious, just something that has been irritated or aggravated, but I am quickly losing my patience with it. Ugh!

cross training again. 75 minutes on the bike. Start PT tomorrow for the knee - doc's diagnosis runner's knee with a hint of IT band syndrome. Apparently my knee is not very original.

swimming... I am not skilled in the pool. I will be the first to admit that. But dang! Swimming is hard. One lap and I was seriously winded. Though I can say that swimming makes it easier to get my heart rate going than biking!
